The Philippine Medical Mission was accomplished in January 2015. We did multiple educational programs which included: PTSD to address victims of the typhoon and earthquake that hit the Philippines, Reclaiming Life from a Traumatic Experience lecture at the Philippine Air Force , lectures at Protacio Hospital Paranaque Metro Manila, Mayor Ian Christopher G. Escario and his team from the island of Bantayan were very supportive. We were also well received at the National Center for Mental Health to talk about the Need for Community Based Rehabilitation and Integration Programs.
At Cebu Doctors Hospital we addressed the topic of Diagnosis and Treatment of Neurodegenerative Disorders, Cognitive Impairments/Disorders and complexities, Mental Health related issues in the aging population: philosophy of comfort care, advance directives, neuroscience aspect of aging, cognitive and psychosocial aspects of aging with medical students, faculty and practicing physicians.
All together with the education and sharing of these programs and their implementation, we have raised awareness of mental health! We also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that assisted us in making this medical mission to the Philippines a success. Without your support it would not have been possible. Thank You!
