Earthquake/Typhoon Fundraiser, November 16 2013

On November 16, 2013 FIMHR sponsored a fundraising event in Palatine to raise money for the earthquake and typhoon victims in the Philippines.  The 7.2 magnitude earthquake and typhoon Haiyan of 2013 devastated and displaced many people.  Our immediate goal was to provide counseling for acute stress and post traumatic stress  to victims especially those who were relocated from different islands.  The whole world responded by sending relief goods that were either not delivered to the victims or even shipped out for distribution.  The psychological and mental health issues/needs were never a priority or mobilized as a major assistance needed for the well being of these victims.  Funds were raised to assist in building an acute behavioral room in the emergency department and support an outpatient clinic to address mental issues.
