It has been a challenging upstream battle to be part of the medical community in the Philippines. We had to be creative because higher government offices may know of the mental health bill passed but are lost in it's application in delivery of services. We found that solution by maintaining our presence through our international mental health liaison, Manuel de los Santos, psychologist, clinician, educator and mental health program director and author, recommended to pursue our plan to establish a community based program. ...read more

Through these challenging years, we have persevered in bringing the message that mental health is vital in the wellness of an individual and that mental illness is a physical condition that requires medical attention. The Philippine Medical Mission was accomplished in January 2015. We did multiple educational programs which included: PTSD to address victims of the typhoon and earthquake that hit the Philippines, Reclaiming Life from a Traumatic Experience lecture at the Philippine Air Force , lectures at Protacio Hospital Paranaque Metro Manila, Mayor Ian Christopher G. Escario and his team from the island of Bantayan were very supportive. We were also well received at the National Center for Mental Health to talk about the Need for Community Based Rehabilitation and Integration Programs. ...read more

FIMHR's first Annual Summer Bash "Andalusian Night" on the 19th of July was a great success. Thanks to our generous sponsors, friends and supporters we all had an amazing time. This charitable event was held to support a medical mission on aging to the Philippines in 2015.
